the book cover design was probably the most enjoyable yet frustrating project I have done throughout the course. Reason being because I got to use my illustration skills to draw the characters which I enjoy doing, although I still like graphics but as a more illustration person, I was happy with this project and got to create what i wanted which was even better. We has to recreate book cover designs for an author, doing 3 book covers.
To start of with I researched different book cover designs, looking at the different styles implemented in the covers for inspiration. I then looked at an author as i really liked their book cover design work. After I looked at comic book covers as it had the illustration aspects that I wanted to do for my own book covers related to an actual book series. i ended up choosing beast quest as I use to read this book when I was a child and it had characters and creatures which were very useful for my development.
I began sketching out different book cover designs and then used photoshop to further develop my book covers. I chose to do close up sketches of the main character as you get to see more detail and as he is the main focus.
I really enjoyed creating the book covers and I like how I experimented with the shading and colours and how the character came out at the end. It was quite stressful drawing these all on the computer with my Wacom tablet but as i already had months of experience using it, it was still very calm when it came to creating the final outcomes. To improve upon, i would have tried adding more detail with the background design and the blurb as it looked quite unsatisfying for me.
campaign
For my campaign, I aimed on creating a campaign towards fitness and health. I decided to research different campaigns and came across Evian which promoted health through drinking water and then I research even more and found different campaigns linked with the gym.
Taking inspiration from fitness first, I decided to create campaign about fitness. I wanted it to be interesting and then i remembered how on pinterest there were these parkour images that gave me the idea to do the hashtag "the sky's the limit" as it would be a big impact and convey the message that I'm trying to show which was that the only limit was the sky so you shouldn't limit yourself too much and try to get fit and healthy.
I ended up experimenting my campaigns and adding them to billboards trying to find the right locations that would be good for showing my campaign. i shoe the tube and in public area as the tube tends to be packed with lots of people and people also tend to walk around in the public to work to work etc so choosing these areas was a good idea.
I like how my final outcomes came out however I would have tried to include more to the campaign, like adding quick information and maybe links to help further my development.

infographics
For my Infographics project, we weren’t allowed to create a poster and so I had to start thinking outside the box of different ways to show my Infographics. I began by brainstorming ideas of what my Infographics would be based on. After coming up with different ideas, I ended up choosing the idea of “Would you rather” questions. I decided to focus these questions on my classmates, as it’ll be a lot easier and beneficial instead of asking random people in public/university. I wanted my questions to be completely random as would you rather questions never had to set structure on the questions it asked. I wanted to questions to still be exciting and engaging, making the audience really think about which choice they’ll make.
For the layout, I looked at different types of leaflets and templates, and ended up choosing a box template as my structure. I made this choice as I wanted my Infographics to be interactive with the audience and I wanted it to be different and eye-catching. However the annoying part came to making the template and making a prototype. For the prototype I used an A3 sheet and drew out the template. As my box had to be able to close and open, I had to change the ends and make it so it could do that which was the annoying part but it all worked out when I tried putting it together, although it was quite difficult at the start to do so.
After I began developing my design by experimenting on different colour schemes and fonts to see which would suffice. I ended up choosing the green, purple, cream colour scheme as the colours really worked well with each other and it wasn’t too much with the contrast and vibrant of the colours but was still eye catching.
Overall I really liked how the design came out as it’s very different and interesting to look at. I don’t usually make work like this so I was surprised how well it was going for me to begin with. One thing I could improve on is the pie charts and maybe add more detail for the information.
branding week 2
During our second week of branding, I continued with my original concept and begun expanding on my brand called Food Flow. As mine about about fitness diet app, linked with food, I began finding out ways on conveying my brand to my audience which were people that are trying to eat healthy and go to the gym to stay fit.
I first began by finishing my app logo and implementing them on the iPhone and Android phone to show the audience how it'll look on their phones and to show the availability as it's on both types of phones instead of just one, thus expanding my audience. however i knew an app would't instantly draw them in as they need to know more about the brand so I made a retail store and delivery package to show how the brand will look like in public space, which would be close to a number of gyms to help get more costumers. When it came to the delivery, i wanted it to be simple yet creative so I added plates behind the logo to represent the delivery.
I decided to choose the colour blue as it portrayed with the feeling of calmness. I like the choice of colour as it's subtle yet eye catching at the same time (just like Facebook, Twitter). Overall I like how the final mock up designs came out however I could improve on the delivery package as it still feels plain and boring.

I then began experimenting with different fonts and different logo designs. I wanted my logo to have a dynamic, fluid style to link with the logo name so I looked at brush fonts, bold fonts etc to help me find the right font.
Initially wanted my brand to be focused towards helping people with their diets however I decided to include delivery of diets so the brand is more open and direct to the costumers which was a good choice as it led me to decide an app logo for the brand.
Overall, I was happy with the progress I made although i could have expanded more on the experimentation by looking at more fonts and trying out different colours to see how the logo will look. I wasn't too fond of the branding app as it isn't really the kind of work I would like to do but I did find it useful as t allowed me to try out different things and try to help me get use to typography.
InDesign
For the inDesign workshop, we had to create a lyrical booklet containing keywords from a poem or song recommended or found by ourselves. As this was my first time using inDesign, I was very curious to understand what it could do and it can do a lot. I liked how well structured it is and how easy it is to use. Of course our teacher helped us a lot setting up the document as I was confused on the size and stuff but after I got the gist of the software
I decided to focus my poem on a song I found on youtube called "Caleon Fox-Prepaid (p.94mph)" as I watch the persons youtube channel and loved the rap they did and decided to portray it in a aesthetic way.
I was inspired by the theme of 'tumblr aesthetic' as it looked dynamic and retro for which was the style i was looking for. As the rap was about Naruto, which is an anime, I wanted to implement an anime feeling towards it so I used an image of Naruto on a building and digitally drawn clouds to help convey the anime feel towards it.
Overall I really like how the final outcome came out, especially as it was my first time using InDesign so I thought that i would be making lots of mistakes and come out with an bad outcome but that wasn't the case. What i really like out my final outcome is the vibrant colours as it really helps bring it to life.

Calligraphy
We then moved on do using different colours and using different fonts which got me even more motivated in the workshop. I experimented by trying out the different colours and seeing what message i could write on the paper, linking with the colours.I was very proud of the outcome as there wasn't much mistakes and the colours looked very vibrant and eye catching.
